would like to help more, what do I do?
Help is always needed and certainly more than welcome. You can contact any member of the Board to express interest in helping. You can also contact either the Fundraising Director or Volunteer Coordinator. We have opportunities for those who can give as little as one hour to those who want to take on more responsibility. Please visit our Fundraising Page for more detailed explanation of our programs.
Who do I see if I have any issues?
For questions/concerns about your child's participation: A good place to start is with your team head coach. However, please do not interrupt any practices or games or teaching time with the participant. Also remember our coaches DO NOT discuss other participants with anyone other than their parent/guardian.
If you feel you still have unresolved issues your next step would be to see the Parent Representative who will guide in finding a way to resolve your questions/concerns. If you then feel the Parent Rep has not helped you, you would go to any Board Member who will help you get resolve. You may also address issues at any of the month membership meetings.
How do I become a coach?
To become a coach you will need to fill out a coaches/volunteer form. The Executive Board or their designees will review all written requests and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Coaching staff will be based on qualification and seniority in the organization also is a determining factor. All coaching terms will be for one year and all coaches must have necessary clearances before they are permitted on the field.
Who may I contact for more information?
You may contact any Board member on our Contact Page. Board members can be contacted by telephone or email. We will be happy to answer any questions but please remember that all Board members are volunteers and many have daytime jobs and other children who are involved in more than football and cheerleading.
When do I return my uniform/equipment?
All equipment and uniforms are to be returned at the end on the season on your designated nights. What do I do if I lost a piece of equipment?
You will need to see your coach or the equipment manager for a replacement of lost item. You will be charged a nominal fee for replacement cost of the item. This includes uniforms and for the cheerleaders, pompoms.
At the end of the season you will be required to turn in all items that were issued to you or play a fee for the items lost.
What additional items will I need for the season?
Football: You will need to purchase a hard cup chin strap (which we have available at cost). Also recommended but not required are football cleats and football socks.
Cheerleading: White shoes are the only additional item needed at this time, however that may change in the near future.
Can I use my own equipment?
Football players are issued the necessary items to participate for the season. Our equipment is inspected and certified each season for safety reasons. Therefore for insurance reasons, you will need to participant in equipment issued by the Carlynton Little Cougar Football Association.
Where can I find registration information?
All registration information and forms can be found on the registration page in this site. Fees are updated accordingly and the most current will be available once approved by the Board of Directors.
What is included in my registration fee ?
Your fee includes the following: Football: use of a helmet, shoulder pads, protective pads, practice jersey, practice pants, and a game uniform.Cheerleading: use of game uniform and pompoms, and one pair of kick pants (which you will keep)
Is all money due at registration?
No, the fee can be broken up into several payments. Registration fee consists of a flat fee for participation, concession fee (refundable after completion of your concession duty) and fundraising fee (a predetermined number of lottery tickets you will be obligated to sell). Past practices have been that the flat fee and concession fee are due upon sign up however we are willing to work with
Why does my child need a birth certificate?
Our league rules require that all first year players submit a copy of their birth certificate. You will need a state issued birth certificate with seal (hospital record is not sufficient). This is to verify that all children meet the age requirement of the team.
Failure to provide the birth certificate will result in loss of participation.
When is registration?
Early registration is usually set for mid May. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Participants from the Carlynton School District communities and returning players are given priority. Please note that you will not be allowed to register if you have any outstanding debts or unreturned uniforms/equipment.
What if I miss the registration deadline?
Provided that rosters are not full and there is no waiting list, registration will be open until August of that year.
Where do we practice and play our home games?
We are currently practicing at the Crafton Athletic field and the baseball fields in Crafton Park. Home games are played at Crafton Athletic Field. Please note that parking is available around the park and the field. However due to limited space the lot for the Athletic field will only be available for handicap and officials parking.
Also remember that if you cannot stay at the field for practice you should promptly arrive to pick up your child. No child will be left alone and if timely pick ups become a problem we will address the matter with you.
What do I need to bring to practice?
Football: For full equipment practices you will need helmet with mouthpiece attached, shoulder pads, practice pants with all pads, practice shirt, cleats and plenty of water or Gatorade. Unless instructed by your coach you will need to come to each practice in full equipment.
Game uniforms are NOT to be worn to practice and if they are you will be considered out of uniform and may not practice with your team. GAME UNIFORMS ARE FOR GAME DAY ONLY.
Cheerleading: Comfortable clothing that allow a full range of motion and tennis shoes. Jeans, Jean shorts, skirts, skorts, dresses, tank tops, halter tops, sandals, flip flops, platform shoes will not be allowed at practice. Also you will want to bring plenty of water or Gatorade.
How do I find the away fields?
As we continue our update we will have a page for directions to all facilities. Directions are also available at the league website.
When should I arrive for the game?
Football player should arrive at least one hour prior to game start. This is so there is adequate time to stretch and weigh in. If you are not at the field for weigh in you will not be allowed to play. This is a league rule and there are no exceptions to it. Also, if you should need to arrive early for weigh ins please talk to your head coach and make all necessary arrangements.
What happens if I cannot make practice?
You will need to contact your head coach or assistant who is designated on the contact list. These lists have not yet been updated. If you fail to contact your coach it will automatically be marked as an unexcused absence and will result in loss of participation time.
What if I need to speak with my coach?
Contact numbers for are coaches are available during the season. Should you need to speak with him/her in person please do so before the start of practice or at the end of practice. At no time should you enter the practice or playing are while either is going on. This is not only disruptive to your child but all the children on the team.
Why does my child need his picture taken to play?
League rules require all children to be photographed for their participation card. This is so that we can be sure all players are who they state. If we do not have a picture for your child they will not get approval from the League to play and will not be allowed to participate in games until such approval. There is no exception to this rule so it is necessary to have your child available for this picture.
What do I do if it is raining/bad weather?
Always report to the field unless you hear from your coach. We do practice in light rain and snow. Often times when practice is to begin there may be a ran shower but it may quickly pass thereby allowing for practice for that evening.
At no time do we allow children on the field during lightning. At the first sign of a lighting strike all participants are removed from the field and the coaches make the decision to call practice or not. It is a good suggestion that on bad weather nights you are readily available to pick up your child.
What if I lost my calendar Lottery tickets?
You will still owe the money regardless of whether you return the stubs or not. This is one of our biggest fundraisers and we rely on the funds to keep us going and provide many of the things we do including keeping our registration fees as affordable as possible.
What if I did not sell all of my lottery calendars?
You are still obligated to submit the predetermined amount as outlined in the registration fees. If everyone returned unsold tickets the fundraiser would not be as successful as we hope for. If you have trouble selling tickets please let us know for there are some who can sell additional tickets and will be willing to help out.
When do I get my concession fee returned?
After it have been verified that you have completed your shift(s). If you have more than one child you will need to complete your allotted time for all children before your fee is returned. Please remember that while it is easy to let us keep the fee we still need bodies in the concession stand for it to be profitable. All money that we raise goes back into the program and thereby keeps the cost as low as possible.
Are there other fundraisers than those listed?
We are constantly reviewing our fundraising programs and added programs we feel will be successful. If you have any suggestions for a fundraiser please see the Fundraising Director.
Why should I participate in the fundraisers?
We rely on registration fees and fundraisers to keep us going. Besides expenses for equipment and uniforms we have many other items that require funds such as league fees, referee fees, office supplies (paper, toner, etc). We also need funds for our team and social functions as well as our annual banquet. The more money we fundraise the less money that we will need from registration fees.
What is fundraising money used for?
The money is used to keep the Carlynton Little Cougar Football Association going. The funds pay for many items as such as those stated above.
